There are some long term health conditions that may require careful management during pregnancy. It is advisable that if you have a long term condition and are planning on becoming pregnant, you discuss your plans with your doctor. They will be able to give you advice and information about managing your condition during pregnancy.
If you have an existing medical problem, it is particularly important that you tell your doctor as soon as you find out you are pregnant. They will work with you to develop a care plan to carefully manage your condition during your pregnancy, and minimise any risks to you and your baby.
