The first antenatal visit is often referred to as the booking visit. During this visit you will meet the midwife who will ask you questions to try to build up a picture of you and your pregnancy. This will allow the midwife to make sure that the care you receive during pregnancy in tailored to your individual needs.

During your pregnancy you will be offered a number of different tests such as blood tests and ultrasound scans. The purpose of these tests is to monitor your health and the health of your baby during pregnancy. If you are unsure about having these tests, you can discuss your concerns with your midwife or doctor.
