Connexions - Special Needs Team

This service provides Specialist Careers Guidance, Information and Advice for young Wandsworth residents aged 14 to 25 with learning difficulties and disabilities who have statements of special educational needs, Learning Difficulty Assessments or the new Education Health and Care Plans and their parents or carers.

Personal Advisors provide specialist careers guidance and can give practical support in the following areas:

  • Job vacancies
  • Education
  • Careers
  • Courses and training
  • Benefits
  • Health
  • Housing
  • Family and friends and other personal issues.

Referral Details

Where required, Personal Advisers will use an interpreter. The service aims to meet with parents / carers and young people, in whatever setting is most convenient and accessible.

Any complaints or compliments about this service should in the first instance be addressed to the Connexions Personal Adviser involved. In the case of any complaints that cannot be resolved in this way, these should be directed to the Team Manager of the Connexions Special Needs Team.

Description

What is Wandsworth’s Local Offer ?

Specialist Connexions Personal Advisers will usually meet young people and their parents or carers at the young person's Year 9 annual review in school and subsequently work with the young person, also attending Year 11 and subsequent annual reviews.
