This is a course of three free workshops being run at Balham Carers’ Centre for the Parents/Carers of young people with worries and anxiety. This follows on from a successful trial session that we ran in March.
The aim of the sessions is to offer advice and information to the Parents/Carers of young people under 25 who are struggling with exam pressures, concerns about body image, social media and friendships, fears and panic, insomnia and other signs of worry. There will also be time to share individual experiences and for Parents/Carers to support each other; the groups will be confidential.
Many parents of children with mental health issues do not identify themselves as Carers; however, we consider anyone who regularly looks after another person with a mental or physical illness as a Carer, be they parent, child, partner or friend, and these workshops are designed to make caring for a young person who is suffering due to worries and anxiety easier and less lonely.
The workshops will last two hours from 6-8pm and will be held at our Balham office. The dates are: Tuesday October 17, November 7 and November. They will be led by child and family psychotherapist Paul Anthony who has 30 years’ experience in the NHS working with young people and families.
Places are limited and early booking is advised. Participants are required to register with Wandsworth Carers’ Centre. For more information please contact Sarah Hymas on 020 8675 8011 (Sarah works Tuesdays and Thursdays).
