Get travel-ready with the right vaccines
If your family is travelling over the summer holidays, check that you and your children are up to date with all recommended vaccinations before setting off.
This is especially important as some countries may have ongoing outbreaks or much higher rates of key vaccine preventable diseases such as hepatitis A or measles, which increases the risk to you and your family.
If possible you should try to get advice from a travel health professional at least 4 to 6 weeks before you travel. This is because some vaccinations involve more than one dose, and others take time to build up protection against the disease. You may not be fully protected when you travel if you leave your vaccination until the last minute. Being protected helps keep you, your family, and the communities you visit safe from vaccine preventable diseases.
Have questions about vaccinations or what you might need for your trip? Speak to your GP or practice nurse to find out which vaccinations you or your family might need.
