… What do I need to do next?

 

I achieved the grades that I needed to get on to my preferred University

Congratulations on receiving your exam results!  Now you need to enrol with your chosen University. Please contact them to accept your offer.  Please let your EHCP Co-ordinator know by 30th September where you have accepted your place.

 

What will happen to my EHCP now I am going to University

An EHCP can support up to a level 3 qualification (A level, t level, BTEC, NVQ, level 3 apprenticeship) so you EHCP will come to an end.  We should have already notified you following your Annual Review that we are proposing to cease you EHCP.  On the 30th September we will send the final notification that we are closing your EHCP.  Should you have changed your mind about going to University, please make sure you have contacted your co-ordinator before 30th September.

 

I didn’t achieve the requirement I needed for my preferred University.

 What do I do?

We are sorry to hear that you did not get the grades you expected.

You can try one of these options:

  • Speak to the university to see if they might still accept you on the course.
  • contact one of your other offers and accept a place at an alternative university.
  • Speak to clearing to see if you might be able to attend another university.
  • Speak to the 6th Form/ College and see if you might be able to re-take A levels.
  • Enrol in a local college to re-take an A Level. If you are 19 or over you maybe able to take an Access course.

 

I have changed my mind about going to university- What are my options ?

We understand that you might want to change your mind. 

You might want to look at a level 3 or 4 apprenticeship or employment.

Your next step should always be a progression to move you forward in your learning and toward employment and independence.  

Please let your co-ordinator know if you have changed your mind so that we can support you.

Disabled Students Allowance

If you have not already applied, you may be entitled to Disabled Students Allowance.  This is extra money available to support you at university and to help meet your support needs.

An assessment with DSA can take up to 6 weeks or longer. If you haven’t made an application, we would encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

Talk to your university disability team for support and they will help to guide your through the process.    With your consent we can send a copy of your documents to your universities.
