SEND Reform Programme in Wandsworth

Wandsworth is reforming it’s local SEND system, in line with the national guidance from Department for Education. 

The SEND reforms are part of the Government's programme to strengthen inclusion and improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND.

The reforms aim to create a more inclusive education system where children and young people with SEND receive the right support, at the right time, in their local community wherever possible.

Wandsworth’s focus is on:

• Helping children and young people achieve positive outcomes
• Building confidence and capacity across the children's workforce
• Working together across education, health and care services

Experts at Hand

Experts at Hand is a key element of the SEND reforms. The service will bring specialist education and health expertise closer to schools, early years settings and colleges through local multidisciplinary teams. Its primary purpose is to support, advise and build the confidence and skills of education staff so that they can identify needs earlier, strengthen inclusive practice and provide effective support within everyday learning environments.

School and Early Years Clusters

As part of the reforms, Wandsworth is developing local clusters that will bring together schools, early years providers, specialist services and health partners.
