Experiencing difficulties with mental health is common. Being a young person is hard, and we know how much pressure is felt due to:

  • Exams
  • Friends
  • Family
  • Identity

…and much more.

Over time, this can impact young people’s emotional health and wellbeing. This is a safe space to explore difficulties and learn helpful ways of coping.

It’s likely that the reason you are reading this is because a child or young person you care for is experiencing difficulties with their mental health.

Surveys and research show that children and young people’s mental health has worsened over recent years.

In 2022, one in six children aged 5 to 16 years were identified as having a probable mental disorder, increasing from one in nine in 2017. The increase was seen in both boys and girls.

Self-harm is more likely in children and young people who experience emotional and mental health problems.

One in four children and young people with a mental disorder have harmed themselves as a way of coping with their feelings of distress.
