Little Forest Folk Putney Heath

Little Forest Folk Putney Heath is a fully outdoor forest nursery that immerses two to five-year-olds in nature, helping them become creative, resilient little learners.

Little Forest Folk nurseries are situated in magical sites where children’s imaginations are free to run wild. They follow the core Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and incorporate learning in a safe and secure outdoor environment, where free play, fresh air, exposure to the natural world and physical activity are an integral part of learning.

Every day they meet their full day children at Roehampton Cricket Club on Putney Heath Common for breakfast. After a hearty and filling breakfast everyone dons their waterproof and heads to their magical forest setting.

Activities in the forest can range from creating mud pies, treasure hunts, bark rubbing, mini beast exploration, experimenting with science, dressing up and creative role play to reading stories, mark making and mathematics in the forest. Everyone is always on the move, balancing, running, climbing, coordinating and are always learning more about the world.

Children enjoy their morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack out in the forest, then towards late afternoon they make their way back to the cricket club. Here they enjoy a nutritious dinner and take time to reflect upon the day and discuss what they enjoyed the most, using these discussions to help plan activities for the next day.

Little Forest Folk can accommodate children once they have turned two and there is a cosy rest area available for those children who need time during the day to relax or catch a quick cat nap. They do, however, recommend to get the most out of the forest experience that children wait to join in the forest until they have dropped their long nap or are able to manage with a shorter sleep to ensure they don’t miss out on all the forest action.

In order to keep the experience magical for children they limit the number of children attending each day to 20 children.
