Swaffield Resource Base - The Pod
The resource base (named The Pod) at Swaffield School opened in September 2022 to meet the needs of children with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) or social, emotional and mental difficulties (SEMH), or a combination of the two.
It is housed in a newly adapted-built wing of the school with its own outdoor space, sensory room and therapy spaces. It will grow to have capacity for 16 children.
The Pod offers children:
- a highly personalised curriculum, adapted to meet the needs of the individual child
- a high adult to child ratio
- integration into mainstream classrooms where appropriate
- support from specialists such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and creative therapists
- a sensory room and soft play area
- outdoor learning area
