Special Care Dental Service (SCDS)
The Special Care Dental Service (SCDS) provides oral health care for adults, young people and children who need more specialist care than can be provided within the General Dental Services (GDS).
The service is for Wandsworth residents who are not currently receiving dental care and who fit one or more of the following categories. They may be referred by health or social care professionals using the referral form.
Any patient with one or more of the following conditions is eligible for care:
- physical disability;
- medically complex conditions;
- sensory disability;
- learning disability;
- autism/ASD;
- children under 16 with rampant caries (3 or more decayed teeth); or
- severe mental health conditions.
The Special Care Dental Service is only able to provide emergency or urgent care for clients who have previously been accepted for dental care.
