The Early Years SEND Inclusion Team
The Early Years SEND Inclusion Teams are part of the wider SEND Inclusion Service and works towards enabling children aged 3 months to five years to meet their potential.
The Early Years SEND Inclusion Team has three strands:
The three teams work closely with children who have emerging or special educational needs. To support children with additional needs, our work is marked by working collaboratively across a wide range of professionals.
The teams support smooth transitions for children, Portage supporting children from home education into nursery, and the Early Years SEND Inclusion Advisory Service supporting transitions from nursery into reception, and the SEND Play and Family team supporting children with emerging needs from a targeted group offer into an Early Years setting.
All three EY SEND Inclusion teams are based at the SEND Inclusion Hub, SIH, at 1 Siward Road, SW17 0LA.
To support SEND inclusive practice we have partnered with Dingley’s Promise charity and through this partnership the Wandsworth Early Years sector has access to FREE training.
In addition to this free training offer through Dingley’s Promise, the Early Years Send Inclusion team offers support via the S4S training platform, regular EY SEND Inclusion meetings and bitesize training offered in combination of SEND action plans for all Early Years providers from Autumn 2025.
The team also provides training support for parents and families by working with our partners from Family Hubs, SEND Parent/Carer Forum and other local partners (e.g., MAKATON, SEND briefing sessions and the annual ‘Ready, Steady, Go!’ event).
