Wandsworth Children’s & Young People’s Drug and Alcohol Service
Supporting Young People and Families in Wandsworth
We provide free, confidential support to children and young people aged 11–18 who live, study, or work in the borough of Wandsworth. Our service also extends to families, parents, carers, and siblings who may be affected by a young person’s substance use.
If you are a concerned parent, carer, friend, or family member, we offer advice, information, and practical support.
What We Offer
Our Children & Young People’s Drug and Alcohol Service (CYP DAS) delivers tailored, needs-based interventions to help young people reduce or overcome harmful substance-related behaviours. We provide a range of support options, including:
- One-to-one sessions
- Group workshops
- Harm reduction advice
- Smoking and vaping cessation support
- Wellbeing and relapse prevention strategies
- Access to a qualified nurse (where appropriate)
- Support in building a healthier lifestyle
We work with each young person to set achievable goals and provide personalised guidance to help them stay safe and well.
Support for Families and Professionals
We offer a free, confidential helpline for families and concerned others, as well as training and support for professionals working with young people.
Our qualified practitioners have over 20 years of experience in substance use treatment, working across hospitals, rehabilitation centres, GP surgeries, and community services in London. We uphold strict confidentiality and provide:
- Drugs and alcohol awareness programmes
- Specialist-led one-to-one and group support
- Referrals to detox services (where needed)
- Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) access
How to Contact Us or Make a Referral
We accept:
- Self-referrals
- Referrals from schools, GPs, friends, family members, or professionals
The young person must be aware of and have given consent for support before we accept any referral.

We run community-based drop-in sessions at the following locations:
- Roehampton Family Hub – Wednesdays, 2pm–5pm
- Yvonne Carr Centre Family Hub – Wednesdays, 2pm–5pm
- Tooting Family Hub – Thursdays, 2pm–5pm
- Carney’s Community Centre – Wednesdays, 5pm–8pm
Our duty service operates Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm.

An Information Sheet for Young People
Wandsworth CYP DAS offers confidential, one-to-one support from trained Substance Use Practitioners. You'll receive:
- Accurate, evidence-based information about drugs and alcohol
- Personalised support tailored to your needs
- A custom care plan with harm reduction strategies
How We Will Work Together
Your First Session
We’ll meet you (in person or online) to:
- Explain how our service works
- Answer your questions in a relaxed, informal way
- Discuss confidentiality and what information we might share
- Agree how we’ll work together
Follow-Up Sessions
We’ll:
- Complete a brief assessment to understand your situation
- Ask personal questions (without judgment)
- Help you explore how substance use affects your life
- Work together to make sessions as useful as possible

Your Confidentiality Matters
We won’t share anything you tell us with parents, teachers, or others without your permission.
The only exceptions:
- If we’re seriously worried about your safety or someone else’s
- If there’s a legal requirement to report something
- If we ever need to break confidentiality, we’ll always try to discuss it with you first.
