Wandsworth Baby Box Scheme
Supporting babies in Wandsworth to have the best start in life.
The baby box scheme is now being extended through the borough’s Access for All initiative to reach even more families. This initiative is part of Wandsworth’s ongoing commitment to removing barriers and ensuring equal access to vital early years support.
Who is Eligible?
The baby boxes are for eligible expectant parents or parents with a child under 6 months, this includes:
- Asylum seekers and refugees
- Looked-after children and care leavers
- Families in receipt of any of the following benefits:
What is inside the box?
Baby boxes within the scheme contain many much-needed essentials for a child’s early years. The box is also packed with stimulating toys, and books with a focus on laughing, playing, reading, singing and counting. The Baby Box itself forms only a small segment of the support provided through this scheme.
When a new family is given a Baby Box, they will be introduced to a Family Hub Connector that will stay in touch with the family throughout the child’s early years. The Family Hub Connectors offer support and guidance as well as signpost to services. They will also be helping parents to access the right services and support available to them (e.g. Healthy Start).
Referrals
Eligible parents can self-refer or be referred by a professional known to the family such as a health professional, registrar or social worker (if applicable).
Please self refer using the freephone number below.
