Referral to Universal Services (formerly EHITS process)

This will be replacing the Early Help IT System (EHITS). Below are services you can refer to, with their referral criteria, referral form and contact details.

To make a referral, you will need to scroll down to the service and download their referral form. When you have completed the form you can send the form to their email which is listed below their service description.

This page is primarily aimed at professionals who currently make referrals to the following services.

 

Wandsworth ACCESS Child and Youth Mental Health - Single Point of Access:
Wandsworth ACCESS Child and Youth Mental Health is a single point of referral providing access to help for children and young people in Wandsworth up to the age of 18 years, who may be experiencing psychological and mental health difficulties.

 

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD):
The ADHD Service are a specialist Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) service within the developmental paediatric team. The service supports parents and children through the assessment, diagnosis and management of ADHD. They take referrals of children under the age of 11 years old who are registered with a GP in the Borough of Wandsworth. They provide follow up care for children who are under their service, until they are old enough to transition to adult services.

 

Audiology Services - Queen Mary's Hospital

The Audiology team deal with the diagnosis and management of hearing (auditory) disorders. This service is for people of all ages with hearing and balance disorders. The team consists of a wide range of healthcare practitioners including assistant, associate, specialist and advanced audiologists.

 

Community Speech and Language Therapy:
Children's Community Speech and Language therapists work with children and young people who have speech and language impairments and difficulties.

 

Developmental Paediatrics and ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder):
The developmental paediatrics team consists of paediatricians who provide high quality care in the assessment of developmental disorders and disability. The service provides statutory health assessments of looked after children and input for children with complex health care needs.

To make a referral to Emerging Needs, it must go through the CDC, clearly state on the referral form below that you are making a referral to emerging needs.

 

Education Welfare Service:
The EWS provides early intervention support for schools to improve attendance under a service level agreement (SLA) arrangement. Schools can buy in support by logging onto the Services for Schools platform. SLA schools can make a referral once a pupil’s attendance reaches 85% or under.

 

Enhanced Children's Centre
The Enhanced Children’s Centre offers a range of services to support Wandsworth families with young children with a disability, special need, or complex medical need - with or without a diagnosis. Services include parent workshops and parenting groups, play and learning sessions for children and parents to learn together and individual advice and guidance from a range of key professionals.

To access services at the ECC families must:

  1. Have a child aged 0-5 years with identified existing or emerging needs - based on parents and professionals' concerns or a confirmed diagnosis
  2. Live in the borough of Wandsworth
  3. Be registered with the ECC

 

Occupational Therapy:
Occupational therapists work with people of all ages and can look at all aspects of daily life in your home, school, or workplace. They look at activities you find difficult and see if there's another way you can do them.

 

Physiotherapy:
This service provides physiotherapy care across Wandsworth for children aged 0-16 years with complex needs (such as Cerebral Palsy, neuromuscular conditions, global developmental delay, etc.) as well as musculoskeletal conditions (such as knee pain, back problems, sports injuries, etc.). The service provides Physiotherapy in clinics at Queen Mary’s Hospital and St George’s Hospital.  For those with specific complex needs, we also provide Physiotherapy input across Wandsworth in home environments, education settings (including schools and nurseries) and, when indicated, other community settings (such as local gyms, parks, etc.

 

Primary Speech and Language Therapy:
Children's Primary Speech and Language therapists work with children and young people who have speech and language impairments and difficulties.

 

Schools & Community Psychology Service:
This service is for children, young people (0 to 25 years) who live in Wandsworth, who attend a Wandsworth maintained nursery or school or who are looked after by Wandsworth, and for their families and the practitioners who work with them. The service offers assessment of children's needs to help inform intervention and decisions about educational approaches, support and placement.

 

Secondary Speech and Language Therapy:
Children's Secondary Speech and Language therapists work with children and young people who have speech and language impairments and difficulties.

 

Wandsworth Community Feeding Service
This service is for children and young people from 0 to 11 years who have difficulty eating, drinking, or swallowing, or have significantly restricted diets/feeding aversions. There are two pathways within the service. Some children might be on both pathways depending on their needs

  1. The Community Dysphagia team is for children and young people who have difficulty eating, drinking or swallowing or a significant respiratory history that indicate swallowing may be contributing to a child’s presentation.
  2. Multidisciplinary Feeding Team is for children who have significantly restricted diets and feeding aversions.

 

Wandsworth Hearing Support Service

Wandsworth Hearing Support Service (WHSS) provides information, resources and support to deaf and hard of hearing children and young people, from birth to 25 years, and their families, carers and teachers. Our work follows a holistic family centred approach in order to help children and young people reach their full potential. Tailored support is provided from the time of diagnosis, throughout the school years and as they transition into adulthood.

 

Wandsworth Vision Support Service:

The Wandsworth Vision Support Service (WVSS) is a free specialist service provided by Wandsworth for children and young people aged 0-25 with vision impairment who live or go to school in Wandsworth. The service includes Qualified Teachers for the Visually Impaired (QTVIs) and Habilitation Specialists. QTVIs provide training and advice on accessing and differentiating the curriculum. The Habilitation team work directly with young people to empower and enable safe and independent movement skills in their immediate environment, whilst attaining transferable skills for life.
