Working Tax Credit (WTC)

Working Tax Credits (WTC) can increase your income. A tax credit is money you can receive regularly from the Government.

WTC is paid to people in work who are on low and middle incomes, including those who do not have children.

Tax credits

  • increase a family's income;
  • can help with the cost of childcare through the childcare element; and
  • can help with the costs of having a disabled child, through extra tax credits.

The Government's Revenue and Customs' website has an online calculator which you can use to find out whether you qualify for WTC (and child tax credit) and how much you should get. Go to their website at: www.hmrc.gov.uk
