Hello! I’m Annie and I have been working with young children for over a decade. I currently work part time as the outdoor learning lead and EYFS support teacher at an inner London primary school, two roles that I love. However, I know that there are cracks within our education system, particularly with the very young. Too much pressure for children to ‘achieve expected level’ of progress, too much adult directed ‘play’, too much time spent assessing and quizzing children rather than engaging in child led play and developing genuine, meaningful relationships with them. Children are much more than data. They are resilient, competent and capable people who need to be provided with ample opportunity to grow and develop in a holistic manner, through play of their own choosing.

Fed up with the data driven situation in most schools, I have decided to embark on the next step of my journey within early years education - becoming a childminder. I am hopeful that I will be able to support the young children than I work with through careful interactions, rather than interruptions. Their interests are at the heart of my practice and I intend to go out of my way to help them develop the skills needed in their lives, while keeping them highly motivated, engaged and happy.
