Ashcroft Technology Academy Autism Resource Centre (ARC)

The ASD Resource Centre at Ashcroft Technology Academy is a specialist provision within a mainstream school.
All resource bases cater for children who can access a mainstream curriculum but who need additional support or small group work in order for this to be successful.
Resource bases operate in different ways:
- children may attend a specific unit in the school for part or all of the school day, and/or
- they may receive focused specialist support in the main classrooms.
They are all staffed with specialist teachers, support assistants and therapists with expertise in speech, language and communications needs and autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) who work in the base and with mainstream teachers.

What is Wandsworth’s Local Offer ?
Students with special needs follow the same admissions criteria as all other students applying for places at Ashcroft Technology Academy. The SEND Department will provide support in Year 6 entry tests, providing readers/scribes/small environment where necessary.
Where a student meets the requirements of the Academy, the Principal will consult with the SEND Coordinator to ensure that the special needs of the student can be met within the Academy. All students are considered on an individual basis.
Where a student arrives after the start of Year 7, this consultation will take place between the Key Stage Learning Manager and the SEND Coordinator. In the case of Post 16 students, this consultation includes the Director of Further Education.
