Wandsworth Independent Visitors (WIV) Service
WIV is a new Independent Visitors Service for Children Looked After. An Independent Visitor is a volunteer who befriends a looked after child or young person.
An Independent Visitor will:
- visit children in care who have little or no contact with family, or would benefit from doing lots of fun activities;
- not be a social worker or foster carer;
- help children to decide what activity they would like to do; and
- listen and advise.
To find out more, children can contact their social worker, or contact the WIV co-ordinator.
If you would like to refer a child or young person, please email wiv@wandsworth.gov.uk their name, DOB and a brief description of why they need an Independent Visitor or would benefit. When a match is identified, you would then be required to complete a referral form.
