What we offer

Universal:

All parents with a child with autism/social communication difficulties or those who are on the specialist pathway (undergoing an assessment for autism) can access this level of support. 

Parents can email WAAS to request support at this level:  autismadvisory@wandsworth.gov.uk

What support is offered at this level?

  • Telephone consultation service
  • Parent coffee mornings and workshops
  • Drop in consultations for parents
  • Signposting to other support services in the borough
  • Comprehensive resources including YouTube videos, information sheets and general guidance. Please see our “Advice and Resources” page.

 

Targeted:

This level of support may be appropriate for those parents who require more hands-on support to put strategies in place.

What support is offered at this level?

  • Short term intervention and modelling of SALT/OT/Psychology strategies supported by the family worker (2 – 4 sessions)
  • Individual targeted approach to a particular area of difficulty (3 sessions)

 

Siblings Groups:

At WAAS we try to run regular siblings groups, for those children and young people who have an Autistic sibling. We normally run the groups in the schools holidays. Please complete the group screener to be contacted, the next time this group runs:

Specialist:

Parents and families will access this support when there is a significant difficulty with the CYP’s functioning at home. 

What support is offered at this level?

  • Individualised package delivered by the family worker with support from other professionals.
  • Weekly contact to set goals, model strategies and offer support to the parents and family.
