Paediatric Haematology Service at St George's Hospital

The Paediatric Haematology Service at St George's NHS Trust provides a personal, consultant led service and investigates a wide range of haematological conditions including anaemias, thombocytopenias, neutropenias, haemoglobinopathies, disorders of coagulation and bone marrow failure.

Haematology is the branch of medicine dealing with blood and blood-related conditions.

These include:

  • sickle cell disease;
  • anaemia;
  • leukaemia and related blood cancers;
  • haemophilia and other bleeding; and
  • clotting problems.

St Georges hospital is an accredited Sickle Cell Specialist Centre, an ITP Centre of Excellence and is a member of the South Thames Haemophilia Network.

This service offers:

  • Three consultant led clinics a week for outpatients.
  • Access to Jungle Ward (Day Unit) for urgent reviews, blood product and iron infusions.
  • Telephone support for referring physicians.
