Victoria Drive Primary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) and the Behaviour and Learning Support Service

Victoria Drive Primary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) is part of Wandsworth's Behaviour and Learning Support Service (B&LSS). This Service works with all Wandsworth primary schools to provide support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The PRU works with primary aged pupils on the roll of Wandsworth Council maintained schools, who are experiencing Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (SEMD) and/or Learning Difficulties.
This Service also offers full time education to any pupil who is a Wandsworth resident and has been permanently excluded from their primary school.
This service is for pupils and their families; schools; professionals who are part of the Team Around the Child (TAC)
Pupils referred to this Service can:
receive specialist teaching and support either at the PRU or in their own school, to enable them to develop strategies for managing their learning and their behaviour.
receive high quality education through a programme designed to meet their individual needs in a safe and supportive environment at the PRU.
Schools can refer pupils directly.
The Service works in partnership with parents or carers as an integral part of all multi agency casework with pupils.
The Service also employs a Clinical Psychologist and Systemic Family Therapist.
Pupils usually access support for two terms, but this can be negotiable depending on the needs of the pupil. If a school requests a Statement or EHCP for a particular pupil, supporting reports and information will be provided by the key worker/s from the B&LSS.

- Referral Details
The Behaviour and Learning Support Service has a long standing, very well established referral process with schools.
When a Wandsworth school is concerned about a pupil they have an initial consultation with the pupil’s parents, thereafter making a referral to this Service.
All referrals are considered at the Service’s monthly Referral Panel.
- Other notes
Complaints: It is hoped that any concerns experienced by parents can be discussed and appropriately responded to through a conversation with the head teacher in the first instance. Pupils only attend Victoria Drive with full parental permission. It is highly unlikely that concerns or complaints cannot be resolved at this level, however if it is the wish of parents to take things further, the head teacher will make available the contact details of relevant persons in either the PRU Management Committee or Local Authority.
