Safeguarding Children Team at St George's Hospital

St George's Hospital gives a high priority to safeguarding children and young people, both inside and outside the hospital environment. St George's Healthcare Trust is assured that children and young people receive high quality care in a safe, secure environment provided by suitably trained caring staff in all services provided by St George's Healthcare NHS Trust.

The Safeguarding Children Team includes:

  • a Designated Nurse,
  • a Designated Doctor,
  • a Named Nurse/Doctor/and GP,
  • a Looked After Children Nurse (LAC),
  • a Liaison Health Visitor, and
  • a Team Administrator.

The Team is part of the Children and Families Directorate of St George's Hospital and leads, supports and guides staff within the community services provision, as well as those from whom services are commissioned.

Referral Details

Safeguarding children is not the responsibility of any single agency. Early signs of neglect or rough treatment need to be responded to through an Early Help Assessment (EHA) and Team Around the Child (TAC), in addition to the targeted support that many universal services can put in place for vulnerable children.
