About the venue

St Mary's Church was built by local parishioners in early 19th century and during the 1880s, an elaborately decorated chancel, sanctuary, and reredos were added. In 1903, a Classical frontage replaced the original Greek Revival façade. Sitting on Balham High Road, the church and its surrounding area is also fondly known as Nappy Valley, and the Gateway to the South. It is calming and welcoming oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle of life.

The concerts are designed so that children can be themselves. They can feed during the concert, or have a crawl around. For those who are more adventurous, we usually have room in the back for them to explore under your supervision, and they can rejoin the music at any point when they feel like it.

Our concert includes:

  • step-free access
  • accessible toilet
  • baby changing facilities
  • children can enter and leave when they need to, with their parents/carers
  • children can move around during the concert with parents/carers' supervision
  • children can make noise and sounds, fidget, play, eat, drink, and feed during the music
