Family Safeguarding

Family Safeguarding is a new way of working that aims to keep children safely with their families, whilst supporting parents and carers.

Parents and carers are encouraged to identify changes needed within their family and will work collaboratively with multi agency practitioners within social work teams.

Children's social workers, adult mental health workers, substance misuse workers and domestic abuse practitioners will work together as one team. This makes it easier for families to access help.

Families where abuse and neglect are core issues will be the main focus of family safeguarding.

The aim of family safeguarding is for more children to be kept with their families (if it is safe), for families and pracititoners to work more closely together, and for pracitioners to have more time to spend with the children and families they're working with.
