Dolphin Special Needs Swimming Club

Dolphin swimming club is for Anyone aged 5 years plus with a special needs or disability. We are open Term time only. Please get in touch with the committee
The sessions take place at the Latchmere Leisure Centre on Friday evenings, and are for children and young people aged 5 years +
The club runs:
- sessions for non-swimmers in the training pool; and
- advanced sessions in the main pool.
All club members may attend swimming galas throughout the year to compete against swimmers of similar ability from other boroughs.

For the training pool sessions, parents or carers do need to join their young people in the pool. This is because they are the younger attendees and are beginners. This also helps build their rapport in the water and with with the swim staff. Some are non verbal and it helps the young people have a positive experience with the water. Plus swimming with your child is a great experience. Carers in the pool do need to be at least 14 years and over and can be a sibling.

There is currently a waiting list. Please register your interest with Dolphin Swim Club to be placed onto the waiting list by filling in the online form under 'Related links'.
When you get to the top of the waiting list families are contacted to go for a taster session. At these sessions it will be assessed if the needs of the individual can be met and what pool is right for them. Diagnosis in children vary and some may need more support then others so this is why its best for to be assessed.
