Greenmead School
Greenmead School is a nursery and primary school for pupils with severe learning difficulties and complex needs including physical delay. The school caters for children aged between 2 and 11 years.
Pupils are grouped into classes according to their age and their curriculum needs. The school runs a number of different curriculums to ensure our pupils' education, care and social needs are met.
Teachers and staff at Greenmead are trained in a number of specialist approaches including conductive education, intensive interaction, PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), PODD (Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display), TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and
related Communication handicapped Children), Makaton, rebound therapy and many others.
Greenmead has an NHS therapy team which includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, a physiotherapy assistant and a multi-therapy assistant. Therapy is provided, where possible, in an integrated manner within the classroom and may be delivered either directly by a therapist or by an assistant/school member trained to carry out the intervention. Input may be on an individual or group basis, according to each child’s needs.
Other enrichment activities at Greenmead include; music therapy, horse riding, Cub Scouts, Brownies, After Party (the after-school provision), mainstream school opportunities where appropriate and a wide range of educational outings and visiting performers.

This is a special school for children between the ages of 2 and 11 years old with severe learning difficulties and complex needs including physical delay.
Generally pupils enter Greenmead with a Statement of Special Educational Need or an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Pupils who do not yet have Statements or EHCPs may be accepted on assessment placements. Assessment placement referrals should also be made through SNAS.
Admissions may be made at any time of the year into any year group where there is a place available. All admissions of Wandsworth residents are made through the Special Needs Assessment Section (SNAS) of the local authority, in consultation with the headteacher and parents/carers. Pupils from neighbouring boroughs are also accepted in line with local authority guidelines. Those living outside of Wandsworth should contact their own local authority.
- Other notes
Greenmead welcomes feedback on the service they provide. Parent feedback forms are issued annually, but any concerns regarding your child’s education should be addressed in the first instance to the child’s class teacher. If this does not resolve the issue and you wish to take your complaint further there is a link to the school complaints procedure under 'school policies and other documents' below. Alternatively you can use the WBC complaints procedure (see link below).
