Royal Society for Blind Children (RSBC)

The Royal Society for Blind Children believes in a better life for blind children.
We are on a mission to make sure every single blind child has the self-belief and skills to fulfil the potential we know they’ve got.
We have services such as our Employability Programme which aims to get visually impaired young people job ready, by developing their CV, interview skills and helping them to find the perfect job. Our young people have also gained work placements with our partner organisations which include TFL and the NHS.
We also have a Social and Peer group (11-17 and 18-25), choir, and Health and Well-Being clubs which aim to encourage young people aged 8-25, to socialise and gain their independence. So far, our young people have been to football matches, zip lining, rock climbing, indoor skydiving, attended residential get-aways and many more. Our activities are free and available to those who want to step out of their comfort zone and challenge themselves.
Furthermore, our Family Support Service provides in-home and local advice, counselling and support to families with a child or young person who has a visual impairment. This service provides families with the chance to share their experiences and challenges with our Family Engagement Workers, and gain the essential advice and knowledge they need in order to cope with the diagnosis.
You can find more information about all of these by visiting the RSBC website, looking at the documents under 'Downloads' or by giving them a call.
